Obituary of Paul Shirley, Jr.

Paul Shirley, Jr., 78, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY. The son of the late Paul Shirley, Sr. and Anna Louise {Spegal} Shirley, Paul was born in Owenton, KY on January 25, 1946.

Paul proudly served in the United States Army and later became a member of Covington’s VFW Post 6095. After his military service, Paul married the love of his life, Susan {Smithson}, on August 7th, 1974. He was employed with Rough Brothers Inc. in St. Bernard, OH where he spent 25 years as a fabricator before retiring. Paul enjoyed going hunting, fishing, playing darts, and spending time on the computer playing games. He was also an avid bowler and had compiled a tremendous collection of trophies that he had earned over the years.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Susan Shirley; daughter Anna Marie (Jeffrey) Moos; son Kenneth James Shirley; brother John Shirley; sister Hellen Taylor; grandchildren Tyler (Jessica) Shirley, Shannon Baker, Erin Moos, and Eric Moos; and two great-grandchildren Kyler and Kaylin Shirley.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his sisters JoAnn, Janet, Vivian and Angela, as well as his daughter-in-law, Rhonda Kay Shirley.

Paul will be laid to rest at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown, KY on Tuesday, November 19^th at 11 AM, military rites will be held. Memorial donations may be made in Paul’s name to VFW Post 6095, 343 East 47^th St. Covington, KY 41015.
