Obituary of David J Minnis
David J. Minnis Sr.
David J. Minnis Sr., of Florence, Ky., died peacefully Nov. 11, 2024, following in-home hospice care surrounded by his caring family. He was 66.
Born in Detroit on Oct. 11, 1958, to Harry Jr. and Sharon Minnis, Dave grew up with seven siblings.
Dave graduated from Port Huron (Mich.) Central High School. While at Central, Dave met his bride-to-be, Margaret “Maggie” Belair. They were married Dec. 1, 1978. Dave and Maggie would go on to have three children. To them – and his grandchildren – he was their “hero.”
The family moved to Northern Kentucky when Dave accepted a position with Eagle Manufacturing, where he worked for more than 40 years. When the plant closed, he went to Dana Incorporated as maintenance supervisor until the time of death.
Dave was a “car guy.” He nurtured four Camaros in his lifetime. He was also proud of his 1970 Harley Davidson Electra Glide, which he lovingly maintained.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Maggie; children David Jr. (Valerie); Susan (fiance Mike Verax), and Courtney (Gage) Cook; three grandchildren, Melanie and Joey Minnis and Porter Dailey; siblings John (Terry), Douglas (Mary), Steven (Gina), Ellisa Stout, Paul (Joyce) and Matthew (LaDonna); many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and fur-grandchildren Lucy, Ginger and Fire Chief. He was predeceased by his parents; oldest brother, Mark; and in-laws Gerald and Marjorie Belair.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 16th between 1:00pm and 3:00pm with a funeral service to begin immediately 3:00pm at the Chambers and Grubbs funeral home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY.
