Obituary of Carl E. Eason, Sr.
Carl E. Eason, Sr. of Independence, KY age 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at St. Elizabeth in Edgewood, KY surrounded by his loving family. Carl was born in Lexington, KY on November 9th, 1938 to the late Nancy {Hickey} and Carl Allen Eason. Carl was a police officer, serving in two local communities for an astounding 41 years. He started his career in the floodwall town of Dayton, KY in 1972. He and his loving wife Linda raised six children there before moving to Wilder, and then Southgate, where they later adopted their granddaughter, Michelle (Harmeyer) Carl continued his career with the Wilder Police Dept., finally hanging up his badge in 2013, retiring with the honors of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a beloved Deacon and active former member of East Dayton Baptist Church for many years. He and Linda were most recently members of First Baptist Church in Independence.
Carl was known for his wit and beloved nicknames for all those close to him. He worked hard, loved his family, and cherished his “Linda Lee.” He enjoyed spending time outdoors and spent many years camping and traveling to his favorite vacation spots in Myrtle Beach, SC. and Gulf Shores, AL. He had a soft spot for animals and his knowledge about them was vast. He could easily spot the “resident birds” or other wild animals when they entered their yard or perched on a branch in their trees. Carl was an incredible husband, dad, papaw, brother, son and friend who will be missed beyond measure.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved son, Jimmy Todd Eason.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 65 amazing years, Linda {Helton} Eason; beloved children, Joey (Pam) Eason, Kimberly (David) Powers, LaSanda Breivogel, Carl Eason, Jr., Julie (Tim) House, and Michelle (Chris) Harmeyer; siblings, Juanita Phillips, Jimmy Eason, and Jessie Dunn; along with 12 beloved grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and even two great-great-grandchildren; along with countless other friends and relatives who will forever cherish his life and memory.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike Independence, KY 41051. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM. Immediately following the service, Carl will be laid to rest at Independence Cemetery.
