Obituary of Donna Herzog

Please share a memory of Donna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Donna Herzog, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on January 12, 2025, in her home. She was surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and joy.

Donna is survived by her devoted husband, Greg, with whom she recently celebrated 40 wonderful years of marriage. She also leaves behind her cherished daughters, Karisa Bigelow (Adam) and Sarah Russell (Jason); her precious grandchildren, Kennedy and Charlotte Bigelow, who brought immense joy to her life; and her loving siblings, Deborah Reinzan (Dave), Daniel Smith, Darlene Smith, and Terry Smith (Tammy). Donna was preceded in death by her parents Jean A Smith, William E Smith, and Donald R Dick; her infant unborn child who she loved dearly; her husband’s parents Ralph and Marcella Herzog; as well as her two brothers William “Buddy” Smith (Amy), and Greg Smith.

Donna began her career with Identity Imprinted Apparel, a company that she proudly built, and recently retired after 38 years of service. Donna participated in programs such as Walking with Purpose and S.H.O.C.K. Waves where she would teach bible studies and help plan events for children at DCCH Center for Children and Families. She would often volunteer as a Eucharistic Minister with St. Elizabeth Hospital and would also sponsor children through Unbound. Donna made a meaningful impact through her service and dedication. Donna was a life-time supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriner’s Hospital, and the Matthew Kelly Ministries.

Donna loved her family more than anything and treasured every moment spent with them. She embraced life with a spirit of adventure and a passion for travel, most notably her recent trip to Israel—a journey that deeply touched her soul. In her spare time, you could find Donna going on a hike, biking, attending a play, painting on canvas, or relaxing with an open book. Donna lived each day to the fullest, never wasting a moment, and left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

A woman devoted to God, Donna attended St. Barbara Roman Catholic Church in Erlanger. Her love for God was the cornerstone of her life. Donna shared her faith freely, whether through her words, her actions, or simply the warmth and light of her presence. She was known for her radiant smile, a beacon of joy that remained with her even as she went home to the Lord.
