Obituary of Rachael Marie Schmidt

Rachael Marie Schmidt (nee Bonar) of Ft. Mitchell, age 41, left us on January 14, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY. She was born in Covington, KY on May 17, 1983, to Donna and Jim Bonar. Rachael was a 2001 graduate of Simon Kenton High School where she played soccer, basketball, and softball. After high school, she attended Eastern Kentucky University and went on to obtain her business degree from Northern Kentucky University. Rachael worked in medical billing for 20 years and was currently employed at North Key as the billing lead. In her spare time, she loved golfing and being outdoors. Rachael enjoyed being a dog mama to Ziggy, Georgie, and Hardy. She was a proud aunt and loved being with her niece and nephew as well as spending time with her friends and family. Rachael was outgoing, loving, strong-willed, and compassionate. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her.

She is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Dave and Pauline Rimer; paternal grandparents, Ronald and Madeleine Bonar.

In addition to her parents, Rachael is survived by her loving husband, Mike Schmidt; sister, Jamie Bonar; Niece, Madelyn and Nephew, Cooper; as well as other friends and relatives who will cherish her memory.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at The American Legion, 3801 Winston Avenue Latonia, Ky 41015.  A special tribute to Rachael will take place at 6:00 PM. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to your favorite cause on behalf of Rachael.
