Obituary of Ernie Larkins
Ernie Larkins, 60, of Morning View, KY passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, KY. The daughter of the late Dallas and Josie {Horton} Walls, Ernie was born in Covington, KY on June 26, 1964. She married the love of her life, Joel Larkins, and went on to share 41 wonderful years together. Ernie was a former employee of McDonald’s and Gold Star Chili on Richwood Road where she found fulfillment in caring for others and building relationships with everyone she encountered.
Ernie had a warm and inviting spirit that touched everyone she met. She was a constant source of love and joy, always ready with a smile, a hug, and a kind word for anyone who crossed her path. Family was everything to Ernie. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, never missing an opportunity to support her family, especially at their sporting events. One of Ernie's greatest treasures was her meticulous collection of family memories; she kept detailed records of every photo, preserving her family's history with great care. It was important to her that she knew everyone’s birthdays and anniversaries. Ernie also had a passion for life's simple pleasures and could often be found engrossed in a crossword puzzle, a game of cards, watching her favorite soap opera, or an episode of Family Feud.
She will be deeply missed by her husband of 41 years, Joel Larkins; sons Devin (Dannyelle) Larkins, Joshua (Briana) Larkins, and Eric (Alyssa) Larkins; sisters Judy Sharp and Anna Holland; grandchildren Sophia Grace Larkins, Kenzley Reese Larkins, Carson Allen Larkins, Bradley Anthony Larkins, and Brinley Willow Larkins; best-friend Robin; her faithful dog Sam; and a host of family and friends whom she all cherished dearly.
In addition to her parents, Ernie was preceded in death by her siblings Donnie Perkins, Steve Perkins, James Perkins, and Netty Scholl.
A visitation will be held between 10 AM and 12 PM with a funeral service to immediately begin at 12 PM on Monday, February 3rd at Chambers & Grubbs, 45 N. Main St. Walton, KY 41094. Ernie will be laid to rest at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North. Memorial donations may be made to the Larkins family to assist with funeral expenses by clicking here.
