Obituary of Lucy Roberts

Lucy Mae Roberts (nee Robbins), of Independence, was born July 12, 1924 up on Cannon Creek, Ky. She passed peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Edgewood, Ky. Lucy, a pioneer in the retail sector, was the first woman manager in the city of Covington. A devoted wife to Edward Rice Roberts for 50 years, she is survived by her loving children, Peggy Sue Howard (David Kenneth Coyte), David Wayne Howard and Paul Edward Roberts; siblings, Dewey Robbins, Christine Sloane, Imogene Schaefer, Garrett Robbins; and granddaughter, Amelia Rose Nordmann. Services will be held at Independence Christian Church, 5221 Madison Pike, Independence, Ky. 41051 where she was a much loved member of the congregation. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM Saturday, January 21, 2012 with the funeral service taking place immediately thereafter. Entombment will take place at Floral Hills Cemetery, with a luncheon after the service in the basement of the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of St. Elizabeth, 1 Medical Village Dr., Suite 213, Edgewood, Ky. 41017.
