R.C. Durr, 88, of Richwood, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a road contractor and owner of R.C. Durr Co., a member of the board of Northern Kentucky University and a founder and chairman emeritus of the Bank of Kentucky. He was a former member of the Kentucky Racing Commission, a past president of the Kentucky Road Builders Association and the Kentucky Highway Division of the Associated General Contractors of American, a founder of Boone State Bank and a former member of Covington Trust and Banking Co. board of directors. He also was a member of Bradford Masonic Lodge No. 123, the Scottish Rite and Shriners. His first wife, Kathryn Ballinger Durr, died in 1992. Survivors include his wife, Deborah Jo Jones Durr; a stepson, Micah Schoettle of Glencoe; a stepdaughter, Trinity Schafstall of Richwood; a brother, William E. Durr of Independence; and two step-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Independence. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to R.C. Durr YMCA, 5874 Veterans Way, Burlington, Ky. 41005; Richwood Presbyterian Church, 1070 Richwood Road, Richwood, Ky. 41094; or Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 11969 Taylor Mill Road, Independence, Ky. 41051.
