Obituary of Paul Edward Cooper

Paul Edward Cooper Sr., 78, of Independence, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a pipefitter and plumber with General Electric Aircraft Engines, Cincinnati, and a former mayor of the city of Independence. He was a deacon of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Independence, a member of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union Local No. 912, and an Air Force veteran. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Williams Cooper; daughters, Linda Cooper Wagner of Independence and Peggy Cooper of Crittenden; a son, Paul Edward Cooper Jr. of Independence; sisters, Jackie Howard of Louisville and Marilyn Vaughn of Memphis, Tenn.; brothers, Charles Cooper of Crittenden, Robert Cooper of Piner, Curtis Cooper of Independence and David Cooper of Florence; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 11969 Taylor Mill Road, Independence, Ky. 41051. Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence, is handling arrangements.
