Obituary of Paul Edward Cooper

Paul Edward Cooper Sr., 78, of Independence, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
He was a pipefitter and plumber with General Electric Aircraft Engines, Cincinnati, and a former mayor of the city of Independence.
He was a deacon of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Independence, a member of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union Local No. 912, and an Air Force veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Williams Cooper; daughters, Linda Cooper Wagner of Independence and Peggy Cooper of Crittenden; a son, Paul Edward Cooper Jr. of Independence; sisters, Jackie Howard of Louisville and Marilyn Vaughn of Memphis, Tenn.; brothers, Charles Cooper of Crittenden, Robert Cooper of Piner, Curtis Cooper of Independence and David Cooper of Florence; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hickory Grove Baptist Church. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.
