Obituary of James Holt

James Douglas Holt Sr., 84, of Independence, died Friday at his home.
He was a retired truck driver with Bavarian Co. and Wiedemann Co. His wife, Betty Jane Reed Holt, died in 2001. A son, Walter Lee "Pete" Holt, died in 1982.
Survivors include daughters, Diana Greene of Burlington, Barbara Hensley of Richwood and Debra Tinkle of Independence; sons, James D. Holt Jr., John Holt and Melburn Holt, all of Independence; 34 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 9 p.m. Tuesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in the Holt Family Cemetery.
