Obituary of Lawrence Lawson

Lawrence Alfred Lawson, of Walton, Kentucky, entered into eternal life with his Maker on March 4, 2012. He was born on May 19, 1926 in McCreary County, Kentucky to the late Luther Lawson and Eva Hamlin Lawson.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Fannie Lawson, brothers, Luther Lawson Jr. of Florence, Kentucky, Jess Lawson of Independence, Kentucky, sisters, Opal Adkins of Covington, Kentucky, Meskel Whiteker of Independence, Kentucky, Elizabeth Lawson of Madeira Beach, Florida, Bethalee Filer of Covington, Kentucky and Norma Dohran of St. Petersburg, Florida.
Preceding him in death was his son Larry Wayne in 1978 and sister Naomi Edwards of Clarksville, Tennessee in 2010.
Lawrence was member of "The Greatest Generation" and served in World War II on the islands of Okinawa and Saipan being awarded two Purple Hearts. After working at Aluminum Industries in Cincinnati for 22 years, Lawrence began another successful career as a dairy farmer. Upon retiring from farming, Lawrence became well known as a gardener and a furniture maker.
Services will be held at Community Family Church, 11875 Taylor Mill Rd, Independence, Ky. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm. Tuesday March 6, 2012. The funeral ceremony will be at 1 pm. Wednesday, March 7, 2012. Burial will take place in Floral Hills Cemetery with military honors.
