I am currently 7000+ miles away from the states and am still reminded of Joe. Over a deployed dinner this week, we were joking about doing laundry, going to the gym and NEX all on the same day, which is the equivalent of a week's work of things to do here. Some one mentioned that was not a good idea because we wouldn't want to "peak too early" - a common phrased used by Joe when creating a masterful plan on a scratch piece of paper. Miss you Joe!

I knew Joe during his career at Wright-Patterson as a co-worker, friend and mentor. His sharp mind and quick understanding of complex techncial issues allowed him to influence many efforts as well as help shape our national defense strategies. He personally encouraged me to retire from civil service and enter into a second career in private industry. He will be greatly missed.

My last assignment at WPAFB was in ENOX where I had the privilege of working with Mr Rogers. There was an early out retirement offered in late 1996; Mr Rogers had the task of informing each applicant in our office whether his/her request was approved. When he called me down to this office for my outcome, I entered and found him smiling and I knew my request was approved before he told me. My condolences go out to his family.

Joe was my friend, professional, personal and my idea of who I hoped to be someday. I cannot adequately say how much of a void his loss creates. He was an honest, motivated man. I do not know what more anyone else could espire to accomplish. Gods speed, Joe.

I had the honor and privilege of knowing Joe and working with him for several years. The thing I will always remember about him was his passion and tenacity for the Air Force and our country. He was a devoted patriot and great american! I will miss him.

Joe was a true patriot, professional in every sense, and a good friend. I enjoyed working with him and his Wright Patterson team to improve communications capabilities for our warfighters. Joe was not only a visionary, but a tireless advocate for our troops in harm's way. The Air Force and our nation has suffered a great loss with his passing! The Headquarters, Air Mobility Command team at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois pass on our condolences and heartfelt appreciation to Joe's family and friends for your loss.
