Obituary of Donald Messingschlager

Donald William Messingschlager, age 77, of Morning View, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. He was a retired Bus Driver and Mechanic for Kenton County Schools, a member of St. Cecilia Church in Independence, and the former Chief of the Independence Fire Department (having served as a volunteer for 59 years). Don enjoyed farming, drag racing, round track racing, tractors and tractor pulls. He was also was a member of the Northern Kentucky Tug Pullers Association and the Covington Moose Lodge.
Don is survived by his loving wife (of 48 years) Martha Rawls Messingschlager; daughter, Lori (David) Messingschlager-Poore; grandchildren, Brady Poore and Dylan Poore; sisters, Sister Georgia Marie Messingschlager, Sister Marie Rose Messingschlager, and Betty (Tom) Hummel; brother, Rick (Marian) Messingschlager; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 8, 2014, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday, January 9, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at St. Cecilia Church, 5313 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 12 noon at the church. Interment will be at St. Cecilia Cemetery.
