Jed K. Deters, 54 of Walton, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015 at his home. Jed was a self-employed attorney at Deters Law Firm where he was also attorney for the City of Independence. He was a member of St. Cecilia Church in Independence, KY, as well as a volunteer of H.O.N.K., (Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky), the Northern Kentucky Bar Association, Kentucky State Bar Association, former Chairman of the Real Estate Appraiser Board. He served on the Board of Directors of Farmers National Bank, and also was a former volunteer with the Independence Fire Department. He was a graduate of the class of 1978 at Simon Kenton High School, graduate of Thomas More College and Chase College of Law. He was a member and supporter of the N.R.A. Jed's hobbies included woodworking, restoring old tractors and automobiles, hunting, fishing, tree farming and was a connoisseur of western films. He was loving and generous with a kind, gentle soul and had a great sense of humor.
Jed is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Deters, daughter; Samantha Deters, son; Lucien Deters, parents; Charles and Mary Sue Deters, sisters; Amy Bach (Greg), Suzanne Osterhage (Jack), Sara Tepe (Bill) and Celia Deters, brothers; Thad Deters (Sharon), Eric Deters (Mary), Seth Deters, Richard Deters (Jean), Nathan Deters and Jeremy Deters (Julie).
Services will be held at St. Cecilia Church, Independence, KY. Visitation will be Thursday, March 5, 2015 from 4-8 PM and on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 11-12 PM at St. Cecilia Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12 PM.
