Dad and Grandpa: We will miss you terribly. We will never be able to fill the void that this tragedy has caused our family. Help us to find peace when we go to call you to tell you about things going on in our lives. Mike is so terribly hurt, and no one can imagine his pain. I have never seen Mike or Ashley so hurt in all my life. They are sick with hurt. Wolfie and Anna Marie will miss you supporting them and making fun of us kids and taking their sides in any discussions. Wolfie and Anna Marie still smile when they talk about you taking up for them. They still think that you loved them more than Mike and I. Ashley will miss you so much as she goes through nursing school. You have been there for her daycare, middle school, high school graduations. There will be a loss for her at Nursing School graduation. She always looked forward to you to come to her soccer games, not missing a basketball, soccer game or volleyball game for her from the age of 4 to 18 when she graduated. Columbus was just a 5 AM wake up to make it on time. Allyson loved you watching her play football, soccer, basketball, and volleyball. You made it to softball until this past year, but she was so excited about your making her game in Dayton in July. Unfortunately you never made it, and that was not your fault. Ally said she understood. During the game a bird flew into her glove and she said Grandma made it to her game. You promised never to miss another tournament. Ally said she expects 2 birds at the next tournament. Ashley and Allyson are so happy that you will be with Grandma again and be safe with her. I promise to take care of Mikey, as I know you left me with these final words that you always said to me, "I count on you". I am glad that I got to say I love you and you knew that I was going to honor your requests. I am so lucky to have spoken with you at the hospital by phone when I got the call on that Friday August 6th. I know you are at peace. Love, your only daughter Linda.
