Obituary of James Kannady
James A. Kannady, age 78 of Walton, KY, died Sunday, July 2, 2017 at his residence. He was a member of Nicholson Christian Church. Jim loved to fish, farm, collect antique tractors, and doing Kenton County 4H livestock auctions. He was a member of the Cattleman Association, Past President of the Auctioneer Assoc., Hall of Fame, and past President of Kenton County KY Farm Bureau. A graduate of Simon Kenton High School in 1958, and also a Kentucky Colonel in 1973. He was formerly employed by Kluener Meat Packing Company for many years. Back in the 1970's, he got his license to sell real estate, and became an auctioneer. Jim was awarded Kentucky Auctioneers Association Lifetime Achievement award in February 2017. He was born to Bert and Lillie Colston Kannady of Walton, Ky. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Ronald and David Kannady.
He is survived by his wife, of 57 years, Shirley Stephenson Kannady, two sons; Doug (Tina), and Steve (Shawn), and brother Bob Kannady; two grandchildren, Bradley Kannady, and Nicole Ford (Ronnie); and one great grandchild (Hank Ford). Jim was well loved, highly respected, and admired by many folks.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Nicholson Christian Church from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the church. Burial to follow at Independence Cemetery. Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home-Independence is handling arrangements. Memorials may be made to Nicholson Christian Church.
