Obituary of William Joseph Day
William Joseph “Bill” Day, a resident of Walton, KY passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, KY at the age of 80 years old.
He was born in Chesapeake, OH on November 14, 1940; the son of the late Oval, Sr. and Nellie Day. Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. and a longtime member of American Legion Post #275 in Independence, KY. His greatest joy came from spending time with his beloved family who he cherished deeply.
Preceding Bill in death were his parents; his step-father, Orville Canterbury; four brothers, Thurman Day, Oval Day, Jr., Paul Day and Charles Day and two sisters, Frankie Wallace and Donna Day.
Those surviving to carry on Bill’s legacy include his faithful and devoted wife of 48 years, Wilma Trosper Vicars Day; children, John Vicars, Lisa (Patrick) Allen, JoAnne (Jeffrey) Rust, Linda (Michael) Trenkamp and Amber Day; siblings, Larry (Beth) Day, Robert (Dianne) Day, Linda Pike and Phyllis (Harry) Brady; grandchildren, Reid (Charlie) Vicars, Jordan (Matthew) Ciolek, Daniel Allen, Jamie Rust, Brandi Trenkamp and Britney Trenkamp; great-grandchildren, Camden Ciolek and Peyton Ciolek; as well as many other close relatives and friends.
Due to the Governor’s new mandates, a private funeral service will be held for Bill at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 45 North Main Street, Walton, KY 41094. He will then be laid to rest with full military honors at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North, 205 Eibeck Lane, Williamstown, KY 41097.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made in Bill’s name to either the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675 or the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, 3000 Conrad Lane, Burlington, KY 41005.
