My favorite childhood memory would have to be when my family was staying over at Bill & Elizabeth's house and Uncle Bill would announce he was going to take a shower and asked if anyone needed to go to the bathroom before he did (since there was only 1 bathroom). He would be sitting in his recliner, Elizabeth next to him in hers and everyone else mainly in living room including myself, usually on the floor. He would say "does anyone need to use the bathroom think I'm going to take me a shower?" Well usually a few of us would run and go. While we were he would nod off in his chair even after we were finished. 15-20 minutes later he would wake back up and repeat same thing about taking a shower. By that time usually others that didn't go before needed to. While they were he would nod off again. 15-20 minutes later he would wake up and repeat himself again. By now some of the ones that went the first time needed to again so he would nod off yet again. So 15-20 minutes later he would wake up and start to say it again but couldn't finish because this time Elizabeth would interrupt and say "Good grief Bill would you go get that shower already?!" Then all of us would start cracking up and Bill would seem confused, probably not realizing how long or how many times he'd fell asleep and would say something like "oh ok, I just wanted to make sure nobody needed to go," then he would finally go take a shower. To this day we still joke about this in my family if someone repeats themselves about needing to take a shower. We say ok now Bill better go get you a shower or does someone need to go to the bathroom first! Lots of found childhood memories while over and their house. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family during such a difficult time. He was such a great and sweet man. He will be missed. Heaven gained a great individual when he arrived.
