One of my favorite memories of Maurice was the few days he spent with us at our farm in virginia helping me wire the barn I had just built for lights and receptacles. He also helped me build a board fence. He could do so many things with skill.
I will also miss his telephone conversation over the past twenty-five years on subjects ranging from the different kinds of birds he was watching to politics to sports to fishing to the education situation in our country. He was truly a renaissance man. We will miss him. Garland J.

As a big brother he took the job seriously. As a little sister I decided I could buy a car with money I had saved from my first secretarial job. He changed that notion by explaining owning a car cost a lot more than just the price tag. So I continued to ride to work each day with my other brother . Good advice. Sandra

Les We were so sorry to hear of Smitty’s passing. There are so many happy memories and fun times—-especially the backyard parties! He was Jim’s mentor for developing his woodworking skills. He was missed by many people in Chillicothe when he left but most of all by the Fairway Ave crowd You will be in our thoughts.

Our deepest condolences to the entire family. Smitty was one of the sweetest people we were blessed to know. We enjoyed getting to know him through the years. We always enjoyed chatting, listening to his stories and of course Tom enjoyed his breakfasts at Waffle House with him. God bless and he will truly be missed.

Les, we we’re so sorry to hear about Smitty. We have such wonderful memories of Smitty when he lived in Chillicothe. I remember some of the boring hospital board meetings we went to together but going for a beer afterwards made it all worthwhile. Also sharing the same birthday must have been why we were so compatible. Much love and prayers to you and your family.

Smitty , the closes thing I had to a brother. The man I looked up , the man that it mattered to me what he thought . The memories I have would fill a book . My heart is broken I will miss him . Norma and Smitty took me with them on vacations, and to his mom and dad's in West Virginia great memories. The first time I ever swam in a pool was on vacation with them .( A lot of firsts for me with Smitty )
