I am sorry for your loss. I loved Mom Helen. I’ll never forget when she gave me antique black candle holders and I put it hem in the bathroom. She was not happy but I sure wish I still has them. Beth Burgess wife of Michael Thomas Burgess for 17 years

Grandma,
Second attempt Grandma......first one didn't post. Well between the first post that didn't post and this one I am typing now I went out to The Farm and just got back. Realized driving there tonight was the first time in my life that I was at The farm and you weren't there. I missed seeing you and getting a kiss. You could make the smallest most gentle kiss smack and pack a punch of love. So much love in a little peck. You taught us all to love and respect!! That family was first and foremost. Even though you are in heaven now you left a little bit of yourself in all of us. All of us cousins are spread out through out the country we all have the same memories and great times you gave us to bring us all together no matter how many miles are between us. I raised my babies on johnny Cash and think of you often when they play a song. While driving 22 tonight Randy Travis Diggin Up Bones came on. I know how much you liked him. I even taught the kids the Diggin a ditch song you taught us and would let us sing in the car. All great memories.
The greatest gift you gave me Grandma was my trips to The Farm every summer after we moved to Florida. This was like an escape to a magical place. Family and friends with food and baseball on the hill. Honestly it was like everyone was family. The homemade ice cream was the best. When we weren't at The Farm we were in Florida awaiting your arrival. To this day i get excited when family is coming to visit and every day is like a vacation. Loved our times at the beach and I know dad loved antiquing with you and hitting the flea markets. He loved when he was able to buy you what you wanted.. Grandma thank you for always loving us and teaching us what the love of family really means. I know you are walking with the lord and Grandpa and Dad We will carry on and strive to make you proud. Love you Grandma!!! Your seats to all Reds and Wildcat games have been permanently upgraded. Love your Grandson, Bryan Michael. SMOOCHES!!!

Your Mother is always with you. She’s the whispers in the leaves as you walk down the street, she’s the smell of certain foods you remember, flowers you pick, the fragrance of life itself. She’s the cool hand on your brow when you’re not feeling well, she’s the breath in the air on a cold winters day. She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep, the colors of a rainbow, she is Christmas morning. Your Mother lives inside your laughter. She’s the place you came from, your first home and she’s the map you follow with every step you take. She’s your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy, but nothing on earth can ever separate you. Not time, not space,...not even death.
Wilma Jean, Rusty and Tim. My heart and soul break of your loss. She was a mom to so many over the years. From my earliest childhood years she was a second mom, Mom Helen was a mentor in my eyes, a woman that loved all, forgave all and welcomed so many into her life with her strength, her tenderness. Now she walks with Jesus so remember when you’re feeling lost, afraid or alone, she’s watching over you in Heaven, she’s with
those love ones that have gone before her.
My love, prayers and condolences to all her family members.

Twenty two years ago I bought mom a book called Reflections From A Mother's Heart. It took her four years to fill every page with her wisdom. Here are mom's own words regarding what advice about life that she wanted her family to remember:
Remember this, I loved you all with all my heart and soul. I'll always love you and hold you dear to my heart.. I want to spend eternity in Heaven and know that I will walk with Jesus, and I know I'll be able to sing up there, (Mom was never confident about her singing voice sing even though she sang to us kids all the time), My advice is something you already know,. Love the Lord thy God with all your heart and soul. Live according to his word. Never harm anyone. Remember what goes around comes around, (her favorite saying). He knows all your thoughts and dreams so think and dream good thoughts.

The greatest testament to any person's influence and memory lies in the vacancy they leave behind. I only ever knew her as the veteran matriarch of the family; the grandmother and great-grandmother who took delight in every name and branch made in addition to our family tree. When I knew her, it was in the leisure of her life, still tending to family matters but spending most of her days in the relaxed bliss of a home well earned, and a thriving bloodline to honor the struggles that she; her husband and forbearers survived to gift their descendants the blessing of life.
She was the kind of woman that would carry out anything she set her mind to, and knew well enough to keep her own doubts and struggles in her heart rather than burden the ones she loved. Determined, thoughtful and simply a strong human being, she leaves a legacy of family and friends she had helped along the way, and she now goes on to tend to those who proceeded her.
We all shall miss her, but we shall honor her memory and efforts by living our lives, and never forgetting the signature she placed on our identities. Rest in peace Grandma, as the roll is called up yonder.
