Roy worked closely with me at Gray & Pape, Inc. He was more than a bookkeeper. He was indispensable to me in the financial management of the company. When most of the rest of the staff would take off the week between Christmas and New Year's each year, Roy would be there with me, closing the books and preparing for the next year. I considered him a friend, as did many in the company. When he retired, the staff presented him with an axe. This was in honor of his company nickname, "The Axe," a reference to his firm, but friendly, role in getting folks to submit their weekly timesheets. Sadly, we lost touch with each other over time, but I have many warm and comforting memories of our years working together. I hope that this lightens the grief of his family. You all have my sincerest condolences.
