I was saddened to hear of the passing of Bud on Thursday, January 20. Bud is someone I have known since we were in First Grade together at Bloom Elementary school. We also attended the same church, Trinity Lutheran, on Highland Avenue, and we were in the same confirmation class, taught by Pastor Tillman Williams. I saw a lot of Bud until he went in the army in 1959. We wrote each other during those years, and I believe I still have a letter or two from Bud.
When he and Laura (Lolly) married in 1962, I was Best Man. My most vivid memory of the event is that due to one thing or another, we were LATE getting to the church in Dry Ridge! Thankfully, it wasn't a big problem, and they enjoyed a long married life together until Lolly's passing.
The last time I spoke to Bud was in early Summer this year.I called him to tell him of the passing of John Kays, who also lived on Highland Avenue. I told Bud that I wanted to see him again, that I could drive to his house, but the time just didn't work in my favor for that.
I will always remember Bud as a good friend, someone with a sense of humor. He will be missed.
Sincerely, Hank Meves (zweimeves@iglou.com)
