I met Darrin over twenty years ago when he joined us at NKU to teach writing and serve as one of our first Freshman Specialists. In addition to teaching, he served as an advisor and mentor to our first year students. It was my pleasure and honor to work closely with Darrin in my role as assistant chair of the Literature and Language (later English) department. Darrin was so full of energy, positivity, and good humor. We had many, many conversations about teaching, about the university, and just about life. He contributed so much to the success of countless students at NKU. I feel lucky to have had him as a colleague, and more important as a friend. We had just been communicating with each other this past spring semester, and I and the rest of the NKU community was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. My deep condolences to his family and friends. What as wonderful man! John Alberti

I have the pleasure of working with Darrin's wife Meredith at Humana & didn't know Darrin personally although it seems I did. She has shared pictures & stories of the many delightful trips & adventures they've embarked upon. My heart goes out to you all. My condolences to you and your family. I am so sad and sorry to hear this news today. Darrin was a great friend and joy to be around. We have so many memories to reflect on and they will continue to shine and be celebrated for anyone who had the chance to know this man.
