I met Charlie at Baker Hunt in Covington. He was always cheerful and friendly, and would chat with the students in the mosaic class. He was delightful.
Charlie and Mrs. Phillips had a garage sale at their home in Latonia, and I attended. He told me stories about some of the things they were selling. I bought an egg basket made by his grandfather, and the kitchen table his mother had during his childhood. I will always treasure these things, because of Charlie.
I visited again when they were in an apartment. I got to meet their cat, and we talked about cats. I told them. about mine. I believe I had eight at that time.
I bought a copy of Charlie’s book from him, “Big Fat Grandma,” and found it very entertaining. It is on my nightstand right now.
I will always remember Charlie and Mrs. Phillips. They are both wonderful people.

I will miss Charlie's standard greeting at church "Hi Sweet Petunia".....it always made me smile...and his standard send off "Peace and Good Will' while holding up his pinkie finger. He was the sweetest man I have ever known. I am so grateful to have been his friend and fellow sister in Christ. His love for his dear wife Naomi and for his family was evident to see when he spoke about them with such joy on his face. I am so grateful for the hope of heaven, and knowing one day we will see him again. Sending all my love and prayers to the entire Phillips family. Charlie will be truly missed.

Dear Mrs. Phillips & Dave:
It was SUCH AN HONOR to know your husband & Dad!
When we visited from United Christian Volunteers, he was always glad to see us, regardless of our purpose or what we had to deliver.
He enjoyed our "Charles Summits," when as many as SIX of us who shared his first name would assemble @ one time & in one place.
In this time of great loss, know your United Christian Volunteers family holds you close in love & lifted in prayer. Our loss is Heaven's gain.
And to echo Mr. Phillips' favorite & frequent "benediction" as we departed: "Peace!"
-Charles E. Lambert

Charlie Philips was an amazing man who loved life. He worked for years with my father delivering milk. Later got to know him and Naomi at Baptist Life Community in Erlanger where my mother lived. He was always friendly and willing to share a bit of humor and wisdom. I enjoyed reading two of the books that he wrote and published documenting the highlights of his eventful life. He truly used all of his God given talents to better his life and the lives of those around him. He will be missed by many. Sincere condolences to Naomi and his family. God bless all of you.
