I'm sorry to hear that about Kathy. She was a wonderful person and a joy to be around. ~ Jon Reynolds
So sorry to hear this. Kathy was the sweetest person! ~ Chad Grooms
She was the sweetest person. She served as a mother figure for so many of the students who worked for her. I know that she fed many who couldn't afford to pay. Her kindness was a good lesson for all. She was so good to us. She knew that I loved grilled cheese with extra pickles and always had one for me. Such good memories of that old campus. ~ Peg Russell
Absolutely! She used to make me bacon and eggs every morning when I was on the Atkins diet. I remember her giving us the ice cream left in the cooler at the end of Spring semester so that it wouldn’t go bad or be thrown away! Such a sweetheart! ~ Melissa Sears
I am truly heartbroken to hear about this. She truly was one of the most caring and generous ladies that I have ever known. She worked so hard and couldn't do enough for us and the students. She treated us all like family - always with a smile on her face. We loved it when she would come into the Assessment Center to brighten our day, get us all laughing, or with treats, etc. She left us all with so many good memories of her. ~ Jana Camm
Kathy had the kindest heart and was the sincerest person I have ever met. She put her heart into the cafeteria and serving Gateway anyway she could, including seeing the student who did not have enough money for a meal got fed. The world is lesser for Kathy not being in it. Thank you for the notice, Jenni. PS – Brett Farve also lost a big fan. ~ Steve Popple
We had some really good conversations in the back office. And she had the biggest and kindest heart. ~ Caprise Johnson
She was a good person with a huge heart. I do have many memories. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family. ~ Sam Collier
Well said, Sam. I have fond memories of the lettuce, tomato, and onion sandwiches she would allow me to make for 50 cents. She was always a beacon of light. ~ Teri VonHandorf
I really loved Kathy. Here are some pics I had of her in them. ~ Sabrina Holder
She was the sweetest and genuinely cared about everyone. Kathy was the food pantry before the food pantry. She took great care of everyone. The smell of bacon in the building was amazing. Loved having classes at that campus. She was always happy and lover her smile. Thank you for taking care of us Miss Kathy. Rest in Peace sweet Kathy. ~ Connie Wiedeman
RIP Kathy Smith ~ Saran Ransom

Meetings in the Bluegrass room…..smell of bacon ~ Amy Hatfield
There were many great conversations and belly laughs around the front table by the coffee pot. She always remembered when I taught on campus and had a scrambled egg ready at 7:30 am Always smiling and trying to make each person feel welcome ~ Michelle Deeley Wilhite
When I was pregnant with the twins, she made me bacon every morning and brought it to my desk. Such a sweet and kind lady ~ Ingrid Washington
