Obituary of Deron E.K. Jump

Deron E.K. Jump of Independence, age 55, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Hospice with his loving wife at his side. He was born in Campbell County, KY on January 2, 1968. Deron was a veteran having proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He retired as a bus driver for the Boone County School District. Deron loved to spend his time outdoors, mostly hunting and fishing. He also had a passion for history. Deron was a living historian reenactor and participated in Revolutionary War reenactments. He was a husband, son, and friend with a great sense of humor who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his father, Howard Jump.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Mary (Baird) Jump; mother, Marlene Jump; mother and father-in-law, Tom and Susan Baird; aunt, Jackie Poynter; and sister-in-law, Betsy Baird (Brian Parker); as well as many other relatives and close friends who will cherish his memory.

A gathering of friends will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Highway Florence, KY 41051. A celebration of life will begin at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Those attending are encouraged to dress casually and in color as this will be a celebration of Deron’s life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are asked to be made to No Kill Central Kentucky Animal Shelter, 107North Paulding Avenue, Lancaster, KY 40444.
