Mary was one of the best reading teachers I was privileged to work with during my tenure as Assistant Superintendent of Academic Affairs, Kenton County School District. She was always willing to go above and beyond to promote literacy. She was also a wonderful friend. She will be greatly missed.
Sincerely,
Joyce Fortney Hamberg

I have counted Mary as a cherished friend since we first met as freshmen at Berea College in 1958. She was always fun to be around and had an infectious laugh which I will never forget. We shared a deep love for Christ and the gift of our families. My deepest sympathies are with each member of her family now, especially her devoted husband. Mary Jean Woodward
