Obituary of Dorothy Jean Beighle
Dorothy J. Beighle at the age of 89, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2023 at Villa Springs Nursing Facility in Erlanger, KY. She was born on November 4, 1933, in Chaplin, KY, the daughter of the late Rev. George W. Hoffman and Alma Jessie Hoffman (Gaugh). Dorothy’s family moved to Walton, KY when she was a young child, and it has been her home ever since. After graduating from Asbury College in 1954 she began her career as an English teacher at Walton-Verona High School. In August of 1955 she married her High School sweet-heart Paul C. Beighle, and they enjoyed 66 years of marriage before Paul’s passing in January 2022. Dorothy was a life-long, active member of the Walton United Methodist Church of which she would proudly tell you her father and grandfather served as Ministers of the church. WUMC was like her second home and its members her second family. In 1957 she helped organize a Wesleyan Service Guild in the Walton Methodist Church and later when it merged with the W.S.C.S it became known as United Methodist Women where she served as its president several times. She served as Choir Director for many years and was also a long-time member of Boone County Homemakers and enjoyed walking with her friends 3 times a week. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her gift of gab, her inability to finish a meal in under an hour, but mostly for her love of her family and her faith in God.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents, her husband Paul, her brothers, Roger and George Hoffman, her sister Emma Louise (Dealy) and her son-in-law James Gleason.
Dorothy is remembered lovingly by her daughter, Paula Gleason of Walton, KY, son Brian (Jennifer) Beighle of Walton, KY, grandchildren Nicole (Tyler) Ryan, Zachary Gleason and Erin Beighle, great-grandchildren, Jameson and Charlotte, as well as other close relatives and many friends. A visitation celebrating Dorothy’s life will take place on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at Walton United Methodist Church, 68 S Main Street, Walton, KY 41094. A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00PM at the church. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Gardnersville Cemetery in DeMossville, KY.
